SportbikeS.com Community Guidelines:

Appropriate Online Content And Discussion Guidelines
We reserve the right to remove content that does not meet our discussion standards. SportbikeS.com does not assume any liability if such content is not removed, and makes the final determination about whether content is objectionable or not. SportbikeS.com does not endorse or oppose opinions expressed by our visitors. Visitors who generate content in chat rooms and message boards, etc, that does not meet our discussion standards shall be removed. Serious offenses will result in removal of access.

These guidelines apply:

You must be at least 14 years old to participate in any part of SportbikeS.com.
  • Identity - Real Names & Nicks:
Your legal first and last name must be provided upon registration on the SportbikeS.com Message Board. You may utilize the Public Display Name feature to publicly display a nick name or alias in place of your real name as long as the entire real name is present and the Public Display name conforms to our other standards. You may use a nick name or another alias in the chat room as long as it conforms to our other standards.

  • Personal Attacks:
Personal attacks not allowed. "Personal attacks" are defined as comments that reflect upon a person instead of their opinion.
  • Sex/Sensuality:
There is a difference between affection and vulgarity. There is also a difference between a discussion of the health or emotional aspects of sex using appropriate language and more crude conversations about sex. The former is acceptable, the latter is not.
  • Disruptive Behavior:
Please stay on topic and restrict your comments to the subject at hand. Refrain from "spamming," or "flooding" or the repeated posting of the same message over and over. You may not transmit or facilitate distribution of content that is harmful, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, vulgar, sexually explicit, or in a reasonable person's view, objectionable. Hate speech will not be tolerated.
  • Personal Information:

You may not post links for any type of affiliate program with referrer IDs.

Even in the designated buy/sell areas all messages must be of a non-commercial nature. You may not advertise and/or promote the commercial sale of products on SportbikeS, including, without limitation: new motorcycles, new motorcycle accessories, apparel, cleaners, and other products that are used by sportbikers. Please carefully read the guidelines posted in the designated Buy/Sell Area for further restrictions and exceptions to the Advertising & Commercial Purpose Standards.

The laws that apply in the offline world must be obeyed online. We have zero tolerance for illegal behavior in any section of SportbikeS.com. We cooperate with law enforcement on such matters.
  • Automatic Censor:
The message board and chat may automatically censor certain words and web addresses from being posted. This censoring is not an exact science, however, so certain words may be censored out of context. Please realize that the censoring is being done by a computer based on the words that are being screened. Words that are censored are replaced with asterisks. Never attempt to circumvent the censor filter

SportbikeS.com’s Forum Feature Restrictions:
  • Avatar Guidelines
Don't know what an Avatar is? Avatars are small images that will be included in your user profile and will be displayed under your Public Display Name, to the right of all your posts on the message board.

These guidelines apply to their usage:
  • Image Types:
For external avatars, only JPG, GIF, or PNG will be allowed. Absolutely, no .bmp, .swf, or .txt files.
  • Size Restrictions:
The maximum area any avatar may occupy is 100 pixels wide x 100 pixels high. Avatars must also be under 10 Kilobytes in size so please use caution if you should choose an image that occupies the maximum space permitted or an animated graphic. Of course you may use a smaller avatar that occupies less than 100 pixels wide x 100 pixels high, but no one will be permitted to exceed these limits.
  • Content:
You may not display objectionable content or content that otherwise violates our Community Standards. We reserve the right to define what objectionable content is, and deny you the ability to use avatars if you show disregard for the avatar guidelines.
  • Uniqueness:
Please don't duplicate someone else's avatar - especially if they made it themselves. If you use someone else's originally created avatar we will remove it from your account and deny you the ability to use avatars in the future.
  • Tips for use:
You can get to the avatar selection by clicking on the My Profile & Messaging link at the top of most SportbikeS.com forum pages. Then click on View / Update Profile link.

Also, you can choose to turn OFF display of avatars, if you don't want to see everyone's avatar. However, the SportbikeS.com Staff and Volunteer logos that appear under SportbikeS.com staff and volunteer names will continue to appear if you turn off the avatar viewing.
  • Signature Guidelines
You may use a signature (also commonly used in email messages) on your posts on the Message Board. You may set your signature in your member profile. Once you have a signature stored, you can choose to include it with any post you make by checking the "include signature" box when you create your post.
  • Signature Length:
Your "signature" may not exceed four lines of 65 characters.
  • Images:
Your "signature" may contain an image that is not objectionable and is no larger than 250 pixels wide by 70 pixels tall and no larger than a 20kb file size. Images larger are not allowed as they can slow down the load time and disrupt the discussion and introduce security exploits.
  • Content:
A typical signature contains the poster's name, and a favorite quote or saying. While you are allowed to promote your personal web site(s) in your signature, you are not permitted to post excessive links to sites, links to commercial sites, any kind of affiliate programs with referrer IDs, or links that otherwise violate our Community Standards.
  • Private Message Guidelines
A private message is not email. Private messages are one-to-one communications that can only be read by the recipient. On the Message Board you can read private messages in your profile section. You can also elect to be notified by email whenever someone sends you a private message (you can set this in your profile). You can also prevent anyone from sending you a private message (also configurable in your profile). Only registered members may send private messages.

To send someone a private message, look for the private message icon on a post a person creates. You can send a private message through the person's member profile, or from your Buddy List, if you have added the person to your Buddy List.
  • Use PMs Appropriately:
Never private message a person when there is a chance that your message or the expected reply can be of benefit to others. You're joining a community and without open discussion there cannot be a useful exchange of ideas.
  • Private Message Privacy:
SportbikeS.com considers the contents of your Private Messages to be the private communications between you and the people you have designated to have access. We will not monitor, edit, or disclose the contents of a User's private communications, except that User agrees SportbikeS.com may do so: (a) as required by law; (b) to comply with legal process; (c) if necessary to enforce SportbikeS.com's Conditions of Use and these Community Standards; (d) to respond to claims that such contents violate the rights of third parties; (e) to protect the rights or property of SportbikeS.com or others; and (f) to identify or resolve technical problems or respond to complaints about the service.
  • Member Rating Guidelines:
We permit members to rate each other. Only registered members may be rated and they may only be rated by other members.
  • Skewing Results:
Do not attempt to skew your own ratings or the ratings of others by registering multiple times and voting for a member more than once. We investigate all duplicate IP addresses and will ban any person attempting to inflate his own rating or tamper with the rating of others.
  • Calculation:
Ratings are calculated using a curve. When a member with a high rating votes for another member, his vote may be weighted more verses a vote by another member with a lower rating. This helps to prevent the skewing of results in someone's own favor or sabotaging someone's high rating due to jealousy.
  • Opt Out:
You may elect to not have other members rate you. To turn off member ratings for yourself, just change your profile settings.
